Medical Assistant Job Description
DUTIES:
- Using computer applications
- Answering telephones, checking voicemails, and returning phone calls promptly.
- TB Administration, Reading, and Documentation
- Greeting patients with respect and courtesy
- Updating and filing patient medical records
- Keeping track of all services rendered
- Scheduling appointments with shelter and outside organizations
- Arranging for hospital referrals and laboratory scheduling and follow-up of referrals
- Handling correspondence and sending to appropriate parties immediately
- Report data to practice administration, including incident reports
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in the patient’s chart
- Ensure all related reports, labs, and information is filed available in patients’ medical records before their appointment or visit
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments and equipment. All exam rooms must be cleaned and organized daily.
- Performs other related duties as requested
Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):
- Taking medical histories
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Preparing patients for examination
- Assisting the physician during exams
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
- Performing basic laboratory tests
- Instructing patients about medication and special diets
- Preparing medications as directed by a provider
- Authorizing prescription refills as directed by provider
- Drawing blood
- Taking electrocardiograms
- Removing sutures and changing dressings
- Wound care
- Assist providers in exam rooms
- Performs other clinical related duties as requested
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $11.00 – $16.00 per hour
